Swimmer of the Month

This special highlight was designed to recognize our athletes’ achievements, promote our club values, and inspire all members to reach their full potential. Each month, an Academy, Junior and Senior swimmer are selected for exemplifying what it means to be an outstanding athlete and teammate. Our focus will be on our three club values: Respect, Support, and Compete.

Swimmer 1

Kevin Wu
Bronze

Kevin shows up to every practice ready to work. He’s focused, driven, and always willing to put in the extra effort—whether it’s refining stroke technique, pushing through a tough set, or staying locked in during dryland. His ability to stay mentally tough, even during the hardest workouts, sets him apart.

What stands out most about Kevin is his consistency. He brings the same determination to every session, improving week after week. No matter the set or challenge, he gives 100% and never cuts corners.

His strong work ethic and steady progress make him a great example of what dedication looks like. He’s reliable, coachable, and always striving to be better than he was the day before.
Keep it up, Kevin—your effort is paying off!

Swimmer 2

Hansen Chen
Junior Atlantic

I am very excited to nominate Hansen Chen for March Junior Swimmer of the Month!

Over the past month, Hansen has competed at three major championship meets — AAA Provincial Championships, Maine Winter Championships, and wrapped it all up at the 2025 East Coast Championships.

Throughout these meets, Hansen has shown incredible dedication, growth, and drive.

Across 18 total swims, he earned an outstanding 16 podium finishes: 8 gold, 6 silver, and 2 bronze medals.
At East Coast Champs, he was awarded the 12&U Boys High Point Awards and scored a massive 210 points for the Trojans!

On top of his amazing performances, what makes Hansen even more deserving of this recognition is his teams spirit and support. He’s the first to cheer for his teammates — even if he has just stepped out of the pool from his own race (sometimes even when he is still in the pool!). He stays until the very end of every meet session, always bringing energy, encouragement, and a hilarious sense of humor that keeps everyone smiling.

Hansen leads by example with his positivity and support, and it is something that both his teammates and I truly value.

I have had the pleasure of coaching Hansen the past two seasons, and I am incredibly proud of the swimmer and teammate he has become. I am so excited to see what he can accomplish the rest of this year and beyond!

Keep up the great work, Hansen!

Swimmer 3

Mya Johnson
Senior Atlantic

Despite beginning the season with some sense of uncertainty, Mya approached our early season training with an open-mind and the attitude of a true leader. Whether it’s an early  morning practice before a test, or a late-night recovery session, Mya consistently demonstrates an un wavering focus on her goals and a relentless drive to grow as an athlete in and out of the water.

This award brings to light not only Mya’s impressive growth in the pool but also the mental toughness she has shown throughout the season. Our sport is one that demands not just strength and technique, but immense patience. Enduring tough training sessions, pushing through the emotional highs and lows of competition or juggling a life-school-swim balance, Mya has consistently displayed an admirable resilience that has set her apart from her peers in this accomplishment.

Mya’s journey this season continues to be marked by significant personal growth. Through each workout, set and race, Mya shows a determination to overcome obstacles, learning from both triumphs and setbacks. This award is a testament to the countless hours spent seeking skill improvement, sacrificing time, and the underlying belief in her own potential.

Mya has not only excelled individually but has also been a positive influence on her teammates through the above habits and tendencies. Her perseverance and passion for the sport have been a source of inspiration for our entire group.

Congratulations Mya on receiving this well-deserved recognition.
